Welcome
This site hasn't been updated since April 3rd, nearing the end of application season. However it will be updated again come the time that applications start again.
Right now I am thinking a lot about the future of the site and welcome any suggestions you might have. I would love to add some content from current law students at Canadian schools - perhaps even making this the main focus of the site, but so far have had little response... does anyone have any suggestions for things you'd like to see her in addition to more stats? Leave comments below.
You can help by adding your stats. Please only add your stats if you have applied to Canadian law schools; I am currently accepting data for those who applied to enter in 2005. Please keep me updated if your stats change!
Inspired in part by the much more thorough www.lawschoolnumbers.com for U.S. schools.

I believe that Osgoode and Dalhousie take your highest LSAT score and not an average of multiple scores.

I wrote to Dal, Osgoode and Ottawa. All three have confirmed that they do indeed use the highest LSAT score - the charts have been adjusted accordingly.

Do you plan to re-start your data collection for the 2004/2005 admissions season (and presumably archive the old data), or just continue adding data points to the charts?

Are the published stats based on regular admits, or do they report regular and special admits?
Thanks!

I read your disclaimer: "This site does not differentiate between mature or special access applicants and regular applicants."
Thanks again!

Great site.
Clarity might be improved if you removed the pending category and increased the graph size somewhat.
It might also be interesting if you showed as two data points the average acceptance and the average rejection scores.

I think it would be more helpful if the grids were a little more precise. For example, the GPAs on the X-axis jump by .4 at every increment and the LSATS on the Y-axis every 5 LSAT points. It would be easier for us to know exactly where our marks stand if the increments were smaller.

Could you contact those that indicated "pending" when they first registered and ask them to indicate whether they were eventually accepted or rejected?

When are the charts going to be updated?

Another interesting idea might be to take "snapshots" of admissions at certain points in the year. (ie. save a copy of the admitted/rejected/pending graph in December, January, February, and so on).

can you please update the site!

Great site. I'm going to post a link on my blawg.

Do the people who post advertisements here ACTUALLY think any of us is going to buy something from them?
Also, great site you're running. It's nice of you to go to all the effort.

Woohoo...thanks for the updates. Good Work! Great Website!

I can't seem to be able to post my stats. I don't know if it is just my computer, but there isn't a submit button!

Does each dot on the graph represent one person?
Thanks, great site I appreciate your efforts.

Hi,
I'm having trouble entering my stats...after I fill them in, I can't seem to find a button that allows me to send my info. Am I just supposed to press "SUBMIT YOUR STATS" again? (the problem isn't that ive not been accepted to any schools yet, ive been accepted to 2)
Thanks!

Wow, this is very helpful. Can the graphs be a bit bigger? A mm makes all the diff in these ones.
Posted by: Jan | February 3, 2005 07:45 PM
To answer some recent questions; yes, each dot represents one person. Perhaps in some future iteration the graphs will be bigger... I'll take it into account for next year. And thanks for letting me know about the submit problems. Apparently when I was updating the form, I accidentally hid that button. Should work fine now. I just tested it.

The site is a good idea, but is ultimately not that helpful due to the fact that law schools consider adjusted gpas, not cumulative. If would be best if there were some way to graph adjusted gpa v. lsat. Maybe instead of people entering a single cgpa they could enter their adjusted gpa for each school they apply to. If someone has time for some research, they could look up how each school adjusts the gpa and you can add these to your site.

I will not be adding adjusted GPAs in the foreseeable future. It would exponentially increase data collection. While it is true that schools consider adjusted GPAs, remember that most people are helped to similar degrees by this adjustment. Therefore, it is still useful to examine cumulative GPAs. If you are particularly helped by such adjustments (e.g. you have some very low marks that won't be considered) then take that into consideration. These charts are not scientific, and you should be looking at the range between your unadjusted and adjusted GPA.

great site! thanks for your hard work! please enlarge graphs if you can. cheers.

Great site....it's very useful, but we desperately need an update. Especially considering the 2005-2006 year is about to begin. Most of the "pending" dots will now know if they have been accepted or not.
Peace

Are we ever going to get an update?

The site is great - thanks for your hard work to keep it going. The best improvement you could do is find a way to incorporate adjusted GPA's into the graphs. Perhaps by having people submit there GPA's by year or even for each credit, we could get a closer approximation of applicants' GPAs as each school sees it.

I've been checking out your website for quite a while now and - now that I'm in law school - I'm more than willing to offer some input. First off: great site! Very interesting info, has helped to ease my mind in the past. If you're looking for new things to add to the site, how about some stats regarding summer/articling placements for different schools? You could focus on anything from how many people from different schools have gotten 1L or 2L summer positions, or articling positions; which region the positions are in geographically; when the articling positions were secured (e.g. Jan - March, before graduation, 1 month after graduation, things like that)... Any of these would be quite interesting to me. Either way, keep up the good work. I'll check back once this app season starts up again to compare trends ;)
Cheers

Hi,
Good site. You may wish to add a link to DOMUS LEGIS SOCIETY - www.domuslegis.ca - a unique social society for Dalhousie Law Students.

Are you looking to update for 2006? I've received my first reply and found your website really informative and reassuring during the application process, particularly because I didn't think my application was very strong. (My GPA was pretty low but my LSAT was strong.)
